Beware the Predatory Penguin: A Warning to New Authors Who Want to Be Published

It used to be simple. If a publisher was interested in your work he paid you an advance and published your work. These days once respected publishers like Penguin operate as vanity-presses. They try to sell you something, for thousands of dollars, that you can do for yourself or for which you can hire people [...]

Plans for Dark Tales of Randamor the Recluse

Once in a while I get an email from a reader asking me all kinds of things about future plans for the Dark Tales of Randamor the Recluse-series. Yesterday someone asked me if the books would be bundled in omnibuses. So, for anybody who’s curious, what follows are my plans as I now see them.

Kobo has recently made a program available for independent authors to upload [...]

The dead end of DIY publishing?

Why “The dead end of DIY publishing” is a rather dumb piece by someone who has looked at only one side of the equation, has no real experience in self publishing and who draws ignorant and unwarranted conclusions.

Can writing make you afraid to read?

I wonder if I’m the only writer with this “problem?” A few casual remarks on some board of which I don’t remember the name intimated that there were some similarities between a serialized story called Captive Prince and my Dark Tales. Later I got questions about that in private conversations. Not that anybody even remotely [...]

The Invisible Hands – Part1: Gambit published on Amazon

Gambit, Book IV of Dark Tales of Randamor the Recluse, and the first part of the new trilogy, The Invisible Hands, went live on Amazon today. (or will go live very soon, depending on where you live.) The books starts off six months after the events related in Book III. I have to admit I’m [...]
