Basic framework done

I think the basic framework — i.e. most of the work under the hood — is done.

The eShop should be fully functional. There are three separate pages, respectively for azw (kindle’s format), epub, and mobi-format  The azw-page  leads you directly to the Amazon-page of a specific book. On the other two you buy directly from this site with PayPal. For the moment this is the only option.

There still is a lot to be done. For the moment there is not much there yet. I have to migrate the old content, in as far as it is still relevant, to the new site.  That includes

  • the info-pages of the books,
  • old posts and
  • old comments.

A whole different kettle of fish are

  • the sample pages and
  • the section that gives more information on the background of the Dark Tales of Randamor the Recluse books.

I still have to make my mind up how I’m going to organize those.

Meanwhile I need to finish the next installment of Dark Tales, Book V. I also want to edit the first three books. Luckily I have excellent assistance in that job. Then there’s Real Life…

Well, on the upside there’s not much chance I will get bored soon, I suppose.

Feel free to leave suggestions — or to just say hello — in the comment-section below.

Glad to see the site back up and running for you…as well as us! Some of the new features sound pretty interesting! And hopefully at some point the maps you mentioned possibly posting since they are not very clear on the Kindle!

And I’ll keep checking to find out when Bk IV is coming!!!

    ;)

    Thanks Diane,

I’m thinking of a whole section just with background information on the Dark Tales books. It will some planning though. The problem is that some information could be spoilerish for people who haven’t read the first book(s) yet. But I’ll see what I can do.

PS: I think you meant Book V. :)

    Andrew,

Very nice job on the new site. I love the clean lines and organization. It’s really easy to get to everything! It’s very cool to see the pile of books you have written–not a surprise, because I’ve read all but the one I’m scared of, lol–you’re a hard working, prolific writer.

Congrats on the new site! :D

    Thanks Bob,

Glad you like the new look. The old one was getting a bit cluttered, so the crash maybe was a blessing in disguise. :)
There’s still a lot to be done though.

    Hi there!

I’ve just purchased your first book and even though I only finished 37% so far I thought I’d drop in to tell you I love it already. :)
Since the price for it was really very fair, I was wondering how much of it actually reaches you as the author and how much is taken up by amazon and such?

    Best wishes!

    Alice

    Hi Alice,

    Thanks for the compliment. :)

It’s no great secret: Amazon pays the author a royalty of 70%. That is before taxes, and it takes a few months before you see your royalties, but on the whole Amazon is very fair to its authors. If you’re asking because you’re thinking about self-publishing yourself you might find a lot of answers on Kindleboards, and more specifically the Writer’s Café.
