Wandering on the net

27 February 2011
I'm very green at this whole writer thing. I've been writing for some time now, but I only started publishing in November last year. Barely four months ago. I write for myself, I publish for others, hoping they will enjoy the stories I have to tell.
In the meantime I've read a lot of blogs by fellow travelers along the road, and although I found many valuable pointers, I must admit some of them are confusing, not to say contradictory. I feel a bit lost in the woods, and it seems after every tree a big, bad wolf could be hiding.
One thing everybody seems to agree on: you have to put yourself out there on the web. It seems logical. I soon found out that these social activities and writing are not compatible, to the point that I now shut them down completely when I try to write.
Yet, if nobody knows you write books, how are they ever going to find you? So, I thought it would be a good idea to make a little list of my forays on the Internet.
Andrew's Blog
This is what you are reading now. The original can be found here: Andrew's Blog on Ximerion.com. Ximerion is my own website where you can find sample chapters of my books, this blog, some background information and where you can buy my books in mobi, epub or pdf format. This blog is syndicated to a number of social sites like Goodreads, Facebook and a few others.
Amazon
My books are also sold on Amazon for Kindle in azw format. I have an author's page there where you can find all my current books and this blog.
I have a personal page on Facebook. I post the occasional news item about my writing there, but mostly just funny pictures or random thoughts. I'd love it if you would friend me.
There is also a special page for A Dish Served Cold
and one for Dark Tales of Randamor the Recluse.
If you're on Facebook as well, please 'like' them.
You can also follow me on Twitter: ![]()
The same goes for my Twitter account as for Facebook. Some occasional updates, some random thoughts... oh, and a lot of complaining when I'm editing. It seems to sooth my nerves.
Goodreads
I have an author's page on Goodreads.
You can find — again — this blog there, but also some reviews by readers. I'd like you to friend me, if you want. I seldom take the initiative, not out of arrogance, but because a lot of people seem to think authors only friend others in order to spam them with promotion for their books.
LiveJournal
I have an account on LiveJournal. I use it mainly to connect with people. You can find shorter musings there, and while I try to keep this site mainly about my books, I may stray a little on LiveJournal.
Blogger
The same goes for my Blogger account.
Others
I also have accounts on Shelfari, Author's Den and Axis Avenue.
You can contact me through this contact form. It sends an email to me, and you can have it send a copy to yourself. I use this method to prevent spam.
